TRENCH COMPACTION REOUIREO IN ROADWAYS 4ND STRUCTURAL AREAS <br /> <br />Fill in housepads must be tested at two foot intervals in <br />accordance with FHA 79-G Earthwork Requirements. The <br />Contractor shall be repsonsible for notifying the Testing <br />Company to verify house pad soils prior to filling. <br /> <br />All embankment in roadways and structural areas shall require <br />compacting (MnDOT 21.05.3F1) with a vibratory roller or other <br />mechanical means to achiev~ 95% of maximum density as <br />determined by the standard proctor test (ASTM D 698-78). The <br />upper three (3) feet within the street right-of-way shall be <br />compacted to 100% of maximum density as determined by the <br />standard proctor test. The tests shall be run by an <br />accredited testing laboratory at the locations designated by <br />the Engineer and paid for by the Owner. All areas not <br />meeting these specifications shall be recompacted by the <br />Contractor at no expense to the Owner. The contractor shall <br />bear all costs of retesting. <br /> <br />16. GRANULAR FOUNDATION MATERIAL (Binder Stone) <br /> <br />An item has been included in the proposal for granular <br />foundation materials which is for foundation correction and <br />pipe bedding, for use only if so ordered by the Engineer. It <br />will not be paid for use in dewatering the trenches or <br />hydrant installations. These uses shall be at the <br />Contractor's expense and included in the cost of the <br />particular items. <br /> <br />The material shall be used for pipe bedding as directed by <br />the Engineer. Payment shall be for tons placed. The unit <br />price bid for granular foundation material shall include the <br />cost of all excavation and compacting required to place the <br />material and also the cost to dispose of any undesirable <br />material removed. <br /> <br />17. FINAL ADJUST~D GRADES <br /> <br />sanitary Sewer and storm Sewer Castings, catch Basins, Water <br />Valves - castings shall conform to the details and as shown <br />on the plans. <br /> <br />During the period between manhole and valve placement and <br />paving, manhole and catch basin castings will be protected by <br />leaving them low or by using heavy steel plates as temporary <br />covers in place of the castings to protect and waterproof the <br />structure (See Erosion Control specification). <br /> <br />sanitary Sewer - All sanitary sewer manhole castings shall be <br />left in place during the paving operation. The castings <br />shall be adjusted before the mat is laid and shall be left <br />1/2 inch below finished grade. <br /> <br />0910-5 <br />
