City Planner Falk provided an overview of the Hamline <br />Center site illustrating a site with a video. He noted that the request for a conditional use <br />permit to operate a bingo hall was limited to an 18,000 sq.ft. tenant bay 1 space within <br />the 74,222 sq. ft. building which has 225 existing parking spaces. Mr. Falk noted that the <br />proposal would attempt to use the rear parking lot at the southwest corner of the existing <br />shopping center. Mr. Falk explained to the Planning Commission that the staff <br />recommended approval of the conditional use permit within tenant bay 1, approximately <br />18,000 sq.ft. in size provided the ordinance allowing bingo halls to operate within a <br />shopping center district is approved by the city cOWlcil. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki asked ifthere was adequate lighting in the back ofthe parking lot. <br />Jim Smith, representip.g Kraus Anderson, stated that the parking lot will be upgraded with <br />additional lighting. Member Cunningham asked for clarification regarding the bOWldary <br />of the parking to the west, and if there was a fence. Mr. Smith replied that there is a <br />small berm with intermittent plantings and garages. Member Cunningham stated that he <br />was concerned about adequate security and safety in the rear parking lot. Member Harms <br />stated there is traffic along the street adjacent to this parking area. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki asked for comments from the public. There were none.
