<br />supplied by Bumdy Corporation, Norwalk, Connecticut, or "Cadweld" by Erico <br />Products Company, Cleveland, Ohio will be pennitted. <br /> <br />CONTRACTORS or suppliers shall submit the method they propose to use for approval <br />prior to construction. <br /> <br />The copper jumper shall be a minimum V16" X 112" wide flat strip or equal cross section <br />round copper wire in the annealed condition conforming to ASTM Specification <br />B152-58 Type DHP. <br /> <br />The copper jumpers shall be welded to the pipe and fittings by the metallic-arc welding <br />process, if shop applied or by the exothennic welding process if field applied. <br /> <br />The copper jumper can be applied as a single strip welded at each end across the joint or <br />by multiple strips with bolted connections in the middle. Silicon bronze bolts and nuts <br />shall be used on all bolted connections. <br /> <br />All welded connections shall be made on a clean metal surface which has been ground to <br />. remove coating and oxide. The area at the connection, including the weld, shall be <br />refinished with its original coating or other suitable protective coatings specified. <br /> <br />The assembled copper jumper across the joints shall be so installed that expansion, <br />contraction, or relative pipe movement incidental to normal service use will not damage <br />the connection to such an extent that electrical resistance will vary acrOSS the joint. <br /> <br />The completed watennain system shall be tested for electrical conductivity according to <br />that stated in "testing" in these specifications. <br /> <br />302.600 HYDRANTS <br /> <br />Fire hydrants shall mee':. the requirements of A WW A Standards C502. Hydrants shall be <br />Waterous, WB-I00 break-ofT type with breakable ground line flange or approved equal. <br />The break-ofT section s~all measure 16". The hydrants shall have two 2 1/2" hose <br />connections and one 4 1/2" steamer connection and all threads shall be National. <br /> <br />Each hydrant shall have a 4' Red Flex stake hydrant marker or equal installed on it. Cost <br />of this marker shall be incidental to the cost of a new hydrant with no direct <br />compensation thereof. <br /> <br />Standard. The center line of the lowest steamer connection shall be a minimum of 18" <br />above ground line. The center line of the break-off flange shall be from 1" to 4" above <br />the ground line. <br /> <br />Hydrants shall open counterclockwise and shall be provided with drain to operate only <br />when hydrant is closed. <br /> <br />300-6 <br /> <br />
