Tbe joint areas <br />.' . shall remain exposed and precautions shall be taken to' prevent the soil nom entering <br />the joint space, until the joint seal is effected. <br /> <br />Whenever existing utility structures or branch connections leading to main sewers or to <br />. main drains, or other conduits, ducts, pipes, or structures present obstructions to the <br />grade and alignment of the pipe, they shall be pennanently supported, removed, <br />relocated or reconstructed by the CONTRACTOR involved. In those instances where <br />-their relocation or reconstruction is impractical, a deviation from line and grade will be <br />ordered, and the change shall be made in the manner directed by the ENGINEER and <br />with extra compensation allowed therefore. Ifwater is present in the trench, the <br />seals shall remain in place until the trench is completely dry. Where pipe cannot be <br />placed by open trench excavation, the method for placing and payment therefore shall <br />be stated in the "Special Conditions" section. <br /> <br />When watennain, water services and sewer services, whether lowered or existing, are in <br />danger of freezing due to the proximity of storm sewers, catch basin leads, or storm <br />sewer structures, the ENGINEER may direct the placement of insulation between the <br />storm sewer and the watermain or service pipe, as specified in Section 303.9. <br /> <br />403.4 JOINTING <br /> <br />Before laying the pipes, the outside of the spigot and the inside of the bell shall be <br />wiped clean and dry. Pipe ends shall be kept clean until joints are made. <br /> <br />403.5 <br /> <br />SEWER SERVICES' <br /> <br />JiI' <br /><I <br />.1 <br /> <br /> <br />Sewer service connections nom sewers shall be 4" C.I.S.P. (extra heavy) or 4" PVC, <br />Class 150. Existing sewer services shall be connected to the new sewers, as shown on <br />the plans and this item shall be incidental. If the top of the main sewer is eight feet or <br />.less below street grade, horizontal wye branch shall be placed so that the connection <br />has a slight vertical angle with the main sewer. <br /> <br />~ <br />::4 <br />~ <br /> <br />:! . <br /> <br /> <br />'Risers shall be used to extend service connections to a point within eight feet of the <br />street grade.
