OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />Lighting is a very important element from both an aesthetic and safety <br />viewpoint. From a safety viewpoint, adequate lighting will allow for <br />safe pedestrian and vehicular use during evening hours. A common <br />lighting system integrates the individual sites and strengthens the image <br />of the entire corridor. <br /> <br />B. TYPE OF FIXTURE <br /> <br />Exterior lightin9- fixtures shall be of a downcast, cut-off type where the <br />:' source of the fight is concealed from view and prevents glare visible <br />from a public street or a contiguous residential area. Rear cut-off, <br />Luminaire type lighting shall be used to prevent spill-over into <br />contiguous residential areas. Exterior wall lighting shall be directed to <br />a wall or contiguous ground area. <br /> <br />C. HEIGHT AND LOCATION <br /> <br />The maximum allowable parking lot light pole height will be 20 feet. <br />Lighting which is proposed specifically for pedestrian ways will be <br />mounted on 12 foot high poles. <br /> <br />D. MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM ILLUMINATION <br /> <br />The individual site lighting plans shall conform to the following <br />standards. <br /> <br />1. Light levels shall be maintained for at least 0.5 foot candles for <br />safety and security 'purposes. <br /> <br />2. The lite plan thall not allow Ught levels at the property Une to <br />exceed 0.5 foot candle when adjacent to any residential <br />property. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />v. These standards <br />Ihould allow for innovation and free expression while assuring that the <br />public is not endangered, annoyed, or distracted. <br />
