~....

REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

DATE: 9-23-96

ITEM NO.: C-3
Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section:

~ ~ cdf Consent Agenda

Item Description: City share of Oasis Park/neighbors fence extension.

Background

In 1994-95, the City Council and staff worked with neighbors of the Oasis Park area
(including residents and ACI managers and employees) to solve noise and "line of site"
problems. The Council's direction was to solve the problem by being a partner to the
project. New berms, fencing, utility relocation, and landscaping were installed along the
south boundary of the park. The City's share of this was 50%, or slightly less than
$50,000. The funding for this project came from pooled TIF used to improve, maintain,
or redevelop the Roseville industrial areas. .

Along the west end of this site, 210 feet of buffering/fencing was not completed. While
this area does not directly abut Oasis Park, it does continue the fence line to the west
end of the ACI property. The City staff direction was to complete the work, not to
exceed 50% of the fence cost (City share was approximately $3,500). The 8 foot high
fence is now completed. ACI has borne all additional costs beyond $3,500 and has
begun a major sound baffling project. of all noisy machinery on the west roof and along
the northwest wall. The neighbors are satisfied with the project completion.

Staff Recommendation:

Complete payment on the City share of the fence by authorizing payment of $3,500
from the City TI F pool.

Suggested Council Action:

Motion to authorize payment of the City share of the fence cost, not to exceed $3,500.

Staff Report by: Dennis Welsch (490-2232)
