Identification of Noise Receptor Sites
Two noise receptor sites were identified relative to the roadways carrying project traffic. Both
sites are residential districts. The first site, the Laurie Addition Neighborhood, is located just
south of I-35W and is bounded by Marion and Fulham Streets. The nearest house in this
n,eighborhood to the intersection of County Road B2 and Long Lake Road is 1,800 feet directly
south of the intersection. The second site is the Gluek Lane Neighborhood which is just south
of Minnesota Highway 36 and is bounded by Midland Grove Road and Fairview Road. The
nlearest house in this neighborhood to the intersection of County Road B2 and Cleveland
Avenue is 720 feet east and 1,920 feet south of the intersection.

Assumptions Used in the Noise Analysis
The Minnesota Department of Transportation program MINNOISE, a Minnesota-specific
m.odification of the Federal Highway Administration Stamina 2.0 Highway Noise Model, was
UI;ed to estimate noise levels at the receptor sites. Exhibit No. 25 lists the assumptions made
in. programing the model. A vehicle mix of 96.2 percent automobiles, 3.2 percent heavy trucks,
and 0.6 percent medium trucks was assumed on all roadways.

Projected Noise Levels
PJrojected No Build and Build noise levels for the year 2000 and the expected increase in noise
level due to the project are shown in Tables 25.1 and 25.2.

Table 25.1

Opus Gateway Development
Noise Modeling Results tor County Road B2/Long Lake Road Intersection
Impact on Laurie Addition Neighborhood
Year 2000

Condition Predicted Noise Level (dBA)
Lea L10 L50
AM peak/No Build 38.4 41.6 36.8
AM peak/Build 39.3 42.4 38.0
Predicted Increase 0.9 0.8 1.2
PM peak/No Build 38.3 41.5 36.7
PM peak/Build 39.4 42.4 38.0
Predicted Increase 1.1 0.9 1.3

2362468, \48185-1II'MN

17
