Forestry
Consultants

2311 WOODOnlDGE ST. · ROSEVILLE. MINNESOTA 55113 · (651) t184-Q114

UN DE CO. INC.

June 16, 1998

Robert Kemnitz
1730 N. Chatsworth St.
Roseville, MN 55113

Dear Mr. Kemnitz,

On June 15, 1998, I inspected your property to give my professional
{ opinion on the effects a proposed garage expansion on the adjacent
property would have on your trees.

'<. The trees in question are a Norway Maple, approximately 12" DBB
. (diameter breast height,) and a Sugar Maple, approximately 10" DBB.
The exact property line was not surveyed yet, but you had the
approximate line indicated based on your w . OJ' , I fence placement
and their proposed driveway and garage expansion. The Norway Maple
is approximately 7' to 8' from the proposed driveway, and the Sugar
Maple is approximately 11' to 12' froITI the proposed garage.

Both of the trees are close enough to the proposed construction
that their root systems will be impacted by the construction
acti vi ty. It should be noted that to adequately compact the soil
for the driveway and garage, the construction activity must occur
outside of the actual footprint of the garage and driveway, further
'! lInpacting the root zones of both these trees. In addition, the
electrical service drop to the house will have to be moved closer
to the trees, necessitating the pruning of both trees to provide
proper powerline clearance. Because' of the existing branch pattern,
this would open up a significant portion of the crowns on the south
side of both trees. The exposure of the thin bark On both trees
will predispq~_ them to sunscald inj ury, in addition to the impacts
of the construction process.

I certify that I have no present nor contemplated future interest
in the property inspected, and that neither the employment to make
this evaluation, nor the compensation for it, is contingent upon
the assessed condition of the subject trees. I have no personal
interest in, nor bias with respect to, the subject matter of this
appraisal nor with the parties involved. I have inspected the
subject site, and to my knowledge, all statements and information
in this report are true and correct.

Resrectf~lly submit~ed,

jrL~~;e( ~ ['1'~
S eRreD Brlll S nge
Consulting Forester

-

MEMBER: Minnesota Foreslry Asso-::iation - Society 01 American Foresters - Minnesola Society of Arboriculture
International Society of Atboriculture .
