2553 Fisk St. Roseville, Mn. 55113 July 27, 1998 ~\U1.\tt2> f(~ Roseville Planning Commision 2660 Civic Center Drive Roseville, Mn. 55113 ~..R.A~ LJ~ Dear Members of the Rosevi~ Commission: As a Roseville resident, I am writing to you about the proposal submitted by Prince of Peace Church at your July 8 meeting, to build a 4 story, 60 unit senior housing facility south of the church. As you are aware, several neighbors attended this meeting in order to learn more about this proposal, so that we would be adequately informed. After attending this meeting, I want to tell you that I have some real concerns about this proposed facility, and I believe that most, if not all of the neighbors who attended share these concerns with me. First, I do not believe that a tall, large facility such as this is a good fit with the beautiful, open adjacent parkland. As it is now, the park has a natural, open, almost rural feel to it, and this building would contrast with that feel. As we would walk past it, or view it from a distance, we would be instantly reminded that we are in the middle of the city. Further, to erect this building, one would have to cut down numerous trees, detracting from the beauty of that corner of the lake, and destroying the natural habitat of various creatures. Second, and just as important, our particular corner of Roseville has grown increasingly busy over the past few years. Four new housing projects in this area have increased the density of our neighborhood considerably. These include the projects by highway 36 & Lexington, B2 & Dale, C & Dale, and north of C & Dale. As a result of these complexes, traffic is extremely heavy at times. It is not unusual to see a 2 block back up of vehicles at the stop signs at Victoria and B2, or Victoria and C, especially during rush hour. Also, the entrance ramp from Dale onto west highway 36 is often so full in the mornings, that it is backed up onto Dale, a rather dangerous situation, it seems. For me, it has become increasingly difficult to turn onto County Rd. C from Fisk -- there are just too many cars on the road! Central Park has also become very busy, such that the walking paths can seem treacherous at times. It is difficult to imagine how the park could absorb the presence of so many additional people who might think of it as their own personal back yard. While the location of the facility adjacent to the lake seems very incongruous to me, neither do I like the thought of viewing
