Historical-Use Information
The objective of the historical-use information review is to develop a history of the previous uses of
the Site and surrounding area, in order to help identify the likelihood of past uses having led to
recognized environmental conditions in connection with the property. Braun Intertec consulted only
those historical sources that were readily available and practically reviewable and were likely to be
useful to develop a history of the previous uses of the Site and surrounding area within the time and
cost constraints of this Phase I ESA.

C.4.a. Fire Insurance Maps
Fire insurance maps are produced by private fire insurance map companies that indicate uses of
property at specified dates'and that encompass the Site. Braun Intertec contracted Historical
Infol111ation Gatherers (HIGs) to obtain copies of fire insurance maps pertaining to the Site. HIGs
indicated that fire insurance maps had not been prepared for the vicinity of the Site.

C.4.b. City Directory Information
Braun Intertec contracted HIGs to obtain city directory information pertaining to the Site. HIGs
obtained R. L. Polk and Company City Directories for the years 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 198]
and ] 986/87 for the Site and surrounding area. Our review of the directories indicated that the Site
address was not listed until 1987. The following occupants were listed as occupying the Site (2151
Lexington Avenue) for the indicated years:

] 956-1976
]981
] 986/87

Lexington School
Roseville Public Schools
no listing

C.4.c. Aeria] Photographs
Braun Intertec contracted HIGs to obtain aerial photographs of the Site vicinity. HIGs obtained
aerial photographs of the Site dated 1937, ]945, 1953, ]957, 1966, 1973, 1978, 1987 and ]997 from
the University of Minnesota Wilson Library. Copies of selected aerial photographs are attached in
Appendix D.

On the 1937, 1945, 1953, 1957, 1966, 1973, 1978 and 1987 aerial photographs, the northern half of
the Site was occupied by a portion of the Lexington School building. The southern half of the Site
appeared grass covered and no buildings were present. On the] 997 aerial photograph, no buildings
were apparent at the Site. The current County Road 13 was apparent to the north, the current
Lexington A venue was apparent to the east, an apparent residential building was located to the south
on the 1937 through 1957 aerial photographs and was undeveloped from 1966 to 1997, and
undeveloped land was located to the west of the Site.
