<br />Request For City Council Action <br /> <br /> <br />Date: 01.25.99 <br />Item No: F-2 <br /> <br />Agenda Section: <br /> <br />Reports <br /> <br />Request For Additional Extension Of Outdoor Storage Usage: <br />Allied Building Products Corp., 1920 County Road C [Pf3083] <br /> <br /> <br />1.0 Council Action Requested <br /> <br />Allied Building Products Corporation is requesting approval of a temporary extension, from <br />March 31, 1999 to December 31,1999, to conduct outside storage of materials at their site at 1920 <br />County Road C. <br /> <br />2.0 Background <br /> <br />Allied Building Products Corporation leases a storage and distribution facility at 1920 County <br />Road C (former Steel Siding Supply Building). <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 1007.02(B), ofthe City Code, "All open storage is prohibited in light <br />industrial districts. All storage shall be maintained within a closed building." In July, 1998, it was <br />determined that Allied Building Products was storing merchandise outside of their building and <br />a letter was forwarded to them (August 24,1998) indicating they were in violation of the City Code. <br />They were advised that the City would allow them until November 1,1998 to remove the outside <br />storage of materials and to comply with the City Code requirements. On September 25,1998, the <br />City received a request from Allied Building Products Corporation to continue the outdoor <br />storage of materials. <br /> <br />Allied Building Products indicated that it was not feasible to operate their operation without <br />permitted outside storage of materials and that they will be vacating their premises at 1920 <br />County Road C as of March 31, 1999. <br /> <br />The City Council, on October 26, 1998, approved the request of Allied Building Products <br />Corporation, 1920 County Road C, to continue outdoor storage of shingles on their site, through <br />March 31,1999. <br /> <br />3.0 Current Request <br /> <br />The City recently received a letter from Allied Building Products Corporation, as well as <br />Minnesota Trade and Economic Development, requesting an extension from the March 31, 1999 <br />to December 31,1999 (letters attached).
