February 3, 1977 PLANNING REPORT CASE NUMBER: APPLICANT: LOCATION: 1032-77- James Trapp - Northwest Corner of County Road C-2 and Partridge Road ACTION REQUESTED: Variance to Sign Requirement PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS: 1. The report prepared for last month is attached with the sketches indicating the size and location of the signs in question. You will recall at the last meeting, there was determined that Mr. Trapp would have to-apply for a sign variance to sign size as well as sign height. He proposes a 172 square foot sign with a height of 44 feet. This size is comparable to others permitted in this area where properties front on Long Lake Road but are designed to be seen from 35W. 2. You will recall the discussion regarding the 342 square foot sign that Mr. Trapp has on his building which was also intended to be seen (and can be seen) from 35W. He has agreed to reduce this sign size to the 100 square foot allowed on this side of the building so as to be visible from Partridge Road, rather than the freeway. Under these circumstances, it would appear reasonable as discussed at the last meeting to allow Mr. Trapp to erect the new pylon sign, with the condition that he:: a. Reduce the size of the 342 square foot sign (sign "A" on the drawings) to the allowable 100 square foot limit. b. That he erect no additional signs on the property exceeding the sign requirement limits. c. That he complete the painting of the building in a nlonotone by an appropriate date. This condition, you will recall, was a part of the approval on his previous application for construction of the service station facilities on the site. -~ /1.,:1~ ~/
