Channel 4000 - Hometown - Task force unveils community center designs

"We're moving along but we haven't approved the
design yet," Jabs said. "We've got two and a half
months to prove to residents how important of a
facility this would be to the city."

If constructed, the center would mean the end of the
35-year-old outdoor Richfield pool and recreation
facility. Likewise, the current Community Center,
7000 Nicollet Ave., would no longer be used, Jabs
said. If not replaced, both facilities require
renovations which could cost upwards of $2 million
for the pool and $500,000 for the community center.

"Some people are against shutting down the outdoor
pool but once they see what kind of an upgrade this --
the Multi-Purpose Community Center n is, they won't
miss the old pool as much," Jabs said.

The task force will present the designs to the
Richfield City Council at its July 6 meeting

c....
