No person shall operate a food establishment within the city unless a license for the <br />current year of the applicable type shall have been obtained from this office pursuant to this chapter. <br /> <br />(b) Applicable licenses. Any person operating a food establishment within the City of Saint Paul must <br />obtain a license from the city of the appropriate type as listed as follows: <br /> <br />(1) Bakery (A): A bakery whose predominant sales are retail, over-the-counter, carryout purchases with <br />no seating provided. <br /> <br />(2) Bakery (B)-Add-on: A retail bakery operated within an already licensed food establishment. <br /> <br />(3) Butcher (A): A butcher facility whose predominant sales are retail, over-the-counter, carryout <br />purchases. <br /> <br />(4) Butcher (B): A retail butcher facility operated within an already licensed food establishment. <br /> <br />(5) Caterer (A)-Limited: A caterer with all food being prepared and served in a licensed food <br />establishment and no transporting and/or serving of food at a satellite location allowed. No food vehicle <br />license pennitted with this license. <br /> <br />(6) Catering (B)-Full: A caterer with all food being prepared in a licensed food establishment and <br />transporting and serving of food at a satellite location is pennitted. Food vehicle license is required. <br />Approved food transport containers must be provided. <br /> <br />(7) Catering (C)-Add-on: A caterer with the provision that this is an add-on license to an already <br />licensed food establishment. The facility must be specifically approved for catering. Food vehicle <br />license is required if food is to be transported to satellite location. <br /> <br />(8) Day care food (A): A day care food situation limited to snacks only. No on-site food preparation of <br />potentially hazardous foods allowed. <br /> <br />(9) Day care food (B): A day care food situation where there is on-site preparation and serving of meals. <br /> <br />(10) Food vehicle: A vehicle used for the sale or transportation of food products. <br /> <br />(11) Food/boarding facility: For preparing and serving food to occupants of a licensed bed and <br />breakfast, rooming and/or boardinghouse, or supervised rooming and/or boardinghouse. <br /> <br />(12) Food/institutionfacility: For preparing and serving food by and in a nonprofit, religious or <br />educational institution (i.e., hospitals, schools, nursing homes, churches). <br /> <br />(13) Food processor/distributor/warehouse: Wholesale processing and distributing of food products <br />(i.e., bakery, butcher, confectionery, beverage bottler, produce). <br /> <br />(14) Food salvage: For salvaging and sale of damaged food products. May include salvage of nonhuman <br />food. <br /> <br />(15) Food vending machine: Includes the vending of all food products except canned and bottled pop. <br /> <br />(16) Food vending operator: Limited to prepackaged food. No food preparation or storage pennitted in a <br />residential facility. Food vehicle license required if food products are transported. <br /> <br />(17) Food warehouse/distributor: Wholesale food distributor that is warehousing food products.
