Human Rights Commission Minutes
September 17, 2014 – Draft Minutes
Commissioner Singleton stated he is supportive of the concept but would want to see more
182
details on how Commissioner Bachhuber would want to proceed and if she would want someone
183
to work on it with her.
184
185
Ms. Collins stated the Commission has several ideas at this time and she would recommend the
186
Commission focus on a couple of these at this time. Since there is not a good platform for the
187
Community-Wide Read the Commission could focus on the other programs they have talked
188
about.
189
190
Commissioner Carey suggested leaving this as a program the Commission could come back to in
191
the future.
192
193
Vice Chair Becker stated the Community Engagement Commission is currently evaluating a
194
community engagement module for the City’s website. If the City opts for this type of add-on
195
there would be an opportunity for residents to post information for other residents to respond to.
196
This could be a platform that is used to start this type of program on a small scale and it could be
197
worked into other programs the Commission is working on, such as the book the Civility training
198
is based on.
199
200
b.Civility Training Update
201
202
Commissioner Carey stated there has not been a lot of progress since the last meeting. The
203
Roseville Community Fund grant application requires a signature then it will be sent in. She had
204
also reached out to the Roseville Rotary Club and they have forwarded the information provided
205
to them to their president for consideration. She stated she would be meeting with Kari Watts, to
206
discuss partnering with the Roseville Library. They are interested in partnering with the HRC
207
but it is not clear what that would look like at this time.
208
209
Commissioner Slade asked what the cost of the Civility Training would be.
210
211
Commissioner Carey stated the cost is $50 per person with a minimum of 40 people and a
212
maximum of 60 people. If there are less than 40 people then the Commission would have to cost
213
share expenses with the organization.
214
215
Vice Chair Becker asked when the Roseville Community Fund grant awards would be
216
announced and what would be the maximum amount the Commission could receive.
217
218
Commissioner Carey stated the Committee meets four (4) times a year and August 1 was the last
219
cut off. If she is able to get the application sent soon it would be considered in
220
November/December. The maximum amount the Commission could receive would be
221
$2500.00
222
223
Ms. Collins asked if the HRC would be interested in partnering with Community Engagement
224
Commission as a way to enhance the grant application.
225
226
