ROSEVILLE RESIDENT SURVEY ABOUT RECYCLING <br />AND GARBAGE COLLECTION <br />OVERVIEW <br />The Roseville Resident Survey about Recycling and Garbage Collection was conducted as a <br />mail survey by the Minnesota Center for Survey Research at the University of Minnesota <br />and was funded by the City of Roseville. A total of 800 dwelling units were selected for <br />the sample, 585 from single-family dwellings (those with 8 or fewer units} and 215 from <br />multi-family dweliings (those with 9 or more units). Questions were asked regarding the <br />services the city provides for recycling and garbage collection. In addition, residents were <br />asked questions about the disposal of household hazardous waste, the disposal of appliances <br />and other electronic items, and the disposal of yard waste, leaves and brush. <br />Mailing and data collection were conducted from January 2 to February 12, 2002. <br />Questionnaires were completed and returned by 531 households: 449 were completed by <br />single-family residents and $2 were completed by multi-family residents. The overall <br />single-family response rate was 78%. The overall multi-family response rate was 47%. <br />GOALS <br />The goal of the Roseville Resident Survey about Recycling and Garbage Co1le�tion <br />(Roseville Resident Survey) was to gather information from residents of Roseville <br />regarding the services the city provides for recycling and garbage collection. The <br />questionnaire was designed to gauge how citizens felt about the current recycling and <br />garbage collection service, to find out if there was any interest in changing the system, and <br />if there was interest, how the system should be changed. This information will be used to <br />develop the best and most cost effective recycling and garbage collection services for the <br />residents of Roseville. <br />STUDY DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT <br />The Roseville Resident Survey was conducted as a mail survey by the Minnesota Center <br />for Survey Resea.rch (MCSR) at the University of Minnesota and was fundec� by the City of <br />Roseville. The highest standards of quality survey research were employed in conducting <br />this project. <br />The administrative coordination of the project was provided by MCSR Director, Rossana <br />Armson. Project Manager, Vicki McEvoy, was responsible for coding and edi�ing, and <br />writing the rnethodology report. MCSR Data Manager, Anne Caron, was responsible for <br />ensuring data accuracy and conversion of the raw ASCII data into an SPSS system file <br />format for analysis.
