Enhance elevated LRT station by adding escalators and enclosed public areas to link the station <br />platform to adjacent new development. <br />. Site assembly to facilitate a mixed-use transit village adjacent to the LRT satation on the Hi- <br />Lake shopping center site. <br />. The corridor-wide market study for Hiawatha corridor identified the potential for a major <br />mixed-use transit village at this location, including 1250 housing units within t mile walking <br />distance of the station. <br /> <br />Advisory Committee Comments: <br />. Making this station pedestrian-friendly at this busy intersection is essential. <br />. Design of the funded elements could enhance mixed-use development vitality and pedestrian <br />activity. <br />. The project links to other development pieces and is a model in that respect. <br />. Lessons learned could apply to other LRT stations in downtown Minneapolis, Bloomington and St. <br />Paul. <br /> <br />Recommended Grant Award: <br />transit funds. <br /> <br /> <br />$100,000 LCDA account, $1.5 Million supplemenntal <br /> <br />Use of Funds: <br />.
