Enhance elevated LRT station by adding escalators and enclosed public areas to link the station platform to adjacent new development. . Site assembly to facilitate a mixed-use transit village adjacent to the LRT satation on the Hi- Lake shopping center site. . The corridor-wide market study for Hiawatha corridor identified the potential for a major mixed-use transit village at this location, including 1250 housing units within t mile walking distance of the station. Advisory Committee Comments: . Making this station pedestrian-friendly at this busy intersection is essential. . Design of the funded elements could enhance mixed-use development vitality and pedestrian activity. . The project links to other development pieces and is a model in that respect. . Lessons learned could apply to other LRT stations in downtown Minneapolis, Bloomington and St. Paul.
