Offers many interesting topics, such as how Chinese <br />medicine looks at emotions, sentiments and feelings, how Chinese medicine <br />analyzes the relationship between psychological problems and disease of the <br />body and how Chinese medicine treats psychological disorders with physical <br />manifestations or physical diseases with psychological problems. After this class, <br />the student is expected to be able to future patients with more helpful advice, <br />helping them to heal faster rrom a psychological perspective. <br /> <br />4202 <br /> <br />Western Pharmacology <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />This course is a survey of Western pharmacology, with emphasis on the most <br />commonly prescribed medications. Upon completing this course, students will be <br />able to demonstrate knowledge of different classifications of Western <br />medications, their indications and therapeutic uses, side effects, interactions with <br />other medications and the risks associated with each medication. <br /> <br />4203 <br /> <br />Medical Referral <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />Covers the common diseases or emergencies that may be met with in the <br />acupuncture clinic. Such diseases as acute heart attack, abdominal pain and <br />bleeding due to ectopic pregnancy will be included. Establishment of a medical <br />referral system for a variety of emergency conditions is also discussed. <br /> <br />4204 <br /> <br />Counseling <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />Provides methods for developing listening/communication skills and establishing <br />rapport with patients. Effective and efficient communication with patients is <br />emphasized.
