To: Rick Jopke
From: Douglas strong ~
Re: Planning File #2320
Date: May 20, 1991

This file deals with a Variance to zoning at 2750 Patton Road. The
engineering staff has reviewed this proposal and has the following
recommendations:

1. There has been five trees planted on the boulevard to date.
Two of the trees have their branches over the curb at this time.
The five trees that were planted are from 5 feet to 8.5 feet in
back of the existing curb.

2. The trees will block snow from being plowed back in the winter.

3. There is room on the east side of the street the trees could be
planted in and not extend over the curb. This seems to be a
better location for the trees.

4. If the other 24 trees are planted the same distance form the curb
as the first five the city will have 29 more trees to maintain.
If the trees are trimmed up to keep the branches out of the road
it will open up the area the property owners want to cover up in
the first place.
