However, a look at the spatial distribution of those available parking stalls shows that only 165 stalls are located near the dorm itori es where the demand is for about 360 stall s. When special events or programs are held at the 1,400 seat Maranatha Hal I on evenings or weekends, approximately 420 parking stal Is are required based on a minimum parking supply of 0.3 spaces per seat for stadiums, theatres and auditoriums as suggested in the "Transportation and Traffic Engineering Handbook", 1976, by the Institute of Transportation Engi neers. Util izing the existing statistics which are felt to be val id into the future, approximately 75%, or 940 students, will I ive on campus and about 50% will have vehicles requiring 470 parking stal Is. Commuter students, compr i si ng 25% of the student enroll ment or 310 students, wil I require about 125 parking stal Is based on a 40% personal car usage rate. Approximately 115 parking stal Is will be required for employee parking based on a 90% personal car uti Ilzation rate.
