However, a look <br />at the spatial distribution of those available parking <br />stalls shows that only 165 stalls are located near the <br />dorm itori es where the demand is for about 360 stall s. <br /> <br />When special events or programs are held at the 1,400 seat <br />Maranatha Hal I on evenings or weekends, approximately 420 <br />parking stal Is are required based on a minimum parking <br />supply of 0.3 spaces per seat for stadiums, theatres and <br />auditoriums as suggested in the "Transportation and <br />Traffic Engineering Handbook", 1976, by the Institute of <br />Transportation Engi neers. Util izing the existing statistics which are felt <br />to be val id into the future, approximately 75%, or 940 <br />students, will I ive on campus and about 50% will have <br />vehicles requiring 470 parking stal Is. Commuter students, <br />compr i si ng 25% of the student enroll ment or 310 students, <br />wil I require about 125 parking stal Is based on a 40% <br />personal car usage rate. Approximately 115 parking stal Is <br />will be required for employee parking based on a 90% <br />personal car uti Ilzation rate.
