These are things that can be discussed by the Commission. <br />223 <br />224 <br />f.Essay Contest Update <br />225 <br />226 <br />Chair Groff stated the deadline for the essay contest was November 7. <br />227 <br />228 <br />Ms. Collins suggested the Commission determine who would be reviewing the essays. <br />229 <br />230 <br />Commissioner Thao stated last year there had been two (2) people who read all of the essays and <br />231 <br />ranked them and these rankings were compiled by Staff to determine the top thirty (30). These <br />232 <br />were then read by the full Commission and ranked. Once the Commission ranked these then the <br />233 <br />results were then tallied. <br />234 <br />235 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber, Commissioner Singleton, and Chair Groff volunteered to do the <br />236 <br />initial review of the essays. <br />237 <br />238 <br />239 <br />New Business <br />240 <br />241 <br />a.Discuss Elections for Chair and Vice Chair (for vote at November meeting) <br />242 <br />243 <br />Chair Groff stated he would be willing to continue as the Chair but if someone else were <br />244 <br />interested, he would encourage them to run. The Commission would be voting for the Chair and <br />245 <br />Vice Chair positions. He is not sure if Vice Chair Becker would be interested in continuing as <br />246 <br />Vice Chair. <br />247 <br />248 <br />249 <br />Chair’s Report <br />250 <br />251 <br />a.Youth Commissioner Report <br />252 <br />253 <br />Commissioner Cederberg stated if the Commission was interested in looking at the Community- <br />254 <br />Read or Book Club program next summer he would recommend choosing a book from the <br />255 <br />Summer reading List for the High School. This way those that already have to read it would have <br />256 <br />an opportunity to meet and discuss it to get a better understanding of the book. <br />257 <br />258 <br />Commissioner Slade asked if the Library or City website had a message board that people could <br />259 <br />use to comment on the book. <br />260 <br />261 <br />Ms. Collins stated at this time the City website does not have this ability. The Community <br />262 <br />Engagement Commission is looking at a module for the website that might have this ability. <br />263 <br />264 <br />Commissioner Singleton stated the Youth Commissioners have a Facebook page that could be <br />265 <br />used. <br />266 <br />
