Accommodations should be <br />made for secure bicycle storage. <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Design pathways removed from heavily traveled streets, but only if <br />it can be done without sacrificing personal security. <br /> <br />e) <br /> <br />Increase attention to street crossings with proper marking, lighting, <br />and signals including provisions for the slower movement of the <br />handicapped. <br /> <br />f) <br /> <br />. <br />Work with other jurisdictions and MnDOT to upgrade the functional <br />capacity and the aesthetic appeal of Highway 36 throughout the <br />community. <br /> <br />g) <br /> <br />Enhance pathways by. using them to demonstrate strong programs of <br />environmental protection such as native plantings, reforestation, and <br />general beautification. <br /> <br />h) <br /> <br />Require non-motorized pathways in new residential development. <br /> <br />i) <br /> <br />With redesign and renovation, request accommodations for <br />pedestrian and bike traffic over or under major freeways and/ or <br />highways and major congested areas. <br /> <br />j) <br /> <br />Develop a pathway system connecting the park trails with major <br />civic buildings, recreational and cultural facilities and shopping <br />areas. <br /> <br />k) <br /> <br />Develop a pathway system enabling residents to leave their home <br />and reach a leg of the trail system within several blocks. <br /> <br />I) <br /> <br />Coordinate access to County Parks and the Willard Munger State <br />Trail (Gateway Trail). <br /> <br />3. Plan land uses to reduce congestion on streets.
