A ~ single access approximately half way between County Road C-2 and Woodhill Drive is developed on Lexlngto~ Avenue. The second access ties lnto County Road C-2 which is proposed to be extendei east to Lexington Avenue. This portion o~ County Road C-2 has long been a part of the C.lty's major thoroughfare plan and is part of the one-half mlle interval county road system establ1shed in Ramsey County many years ago. Some of the residents have expressed concern that traffic coming from the proposed devel~pment will proceed west off County Road C-2 to Snelling. We have suggested to the applicants that they hire a traffic engineer to ascertain the traffic patterns that might well devel~p as a part of thlS development project. It is true- t.hat when County Road C-2 is completed from Vlctorla (one-half mlle east. of Lexington) to snel11ng (one mlle to the west) that this intersection of County Road C-2 wlll develop more traffic. 'fhat is, of course, the purpose of such a local thoroughfare to attract such traff~c rather than havlng lt go through the ne~ghborhoods. You w~ll note, howe~er, that contrary to other major thoroughfares in the City (most are contiguous to single-family neighborhoOdS) that thlS thoroughfare will be only one and one-half m1les in length extending fro~ Snelling to Vlctoria only. Therefore, this road 1S designed to serve the cont1guous res1dentlal nClghborhoods. It.lS possible to add d second dr1veway ~ccess to Lexlngton and p.l)~lnate the access drlve to Cou~ty Road C-2. However, access to Lexington VIa the new extension of county ROdd C-2 would seem more appropriate and ellminate one addltional crossing on Lex1ngton Avenue. A reVlew o~ the anticipated traffic projections and dlrection of flow as produced by the trafflc consultant wlll be helpful 1n review1ng th1S quest\on.
