Lot ch Mr. Albertson is aSking for a variance. The house the Johnsons
built is big house it required going into the 2nd lot. were great
gardeners being botanist and biology majors--Mr. JOhnson with our gov-
erment on the federal level; 1st with the State of MN and later with
Washington and the U.S. representative to Kenya to aid in the protection
of wildlife there along with the man from England. They knew what they
were doing when they built! Their gardens were with fruit bearing trees:
gooseberry, currants and crab apples and many garden plants from seed--
oops I almost forgot, rhubar~ plus variety of perennials--after 40 years
or more as owners of 3103 ASBURY WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A MOVE THAT HE IS
PROPOSING NOW?? PLUS, I HAD APPROACHED MRS. ALBERTSON (upon learning of
their purchase of Lake Leech property, Walker, MN.) if I could buy 20'
or so which was never really addressed at that time. THIS VARIANCE RE-_
QUEST IS A TOTAL SURPRISE AS I HAVE BEEN IN MESA, AZ SINCE 12/27/03 to
03/08/04!! I can tell and read some of the reports in your offices,
Mr. Albertson has done his "home-work" well. I am a widow having been
living at 3093 since Febr 1952, raising a daughter and son. My husband
Cleo George built this home (affectioJj~~g.ry......;.-"'rhe Red House") and he died
Sept. 19 1995. I've stayed and a caring c~cizen of this neighborhood keeping
the home, yard as in good shape as possible. The 3 grandsons like to come
to visit to enjoy the lake, and one grandson comments on the big back yard.
The properties on Asbury Street has BIG BACK lARDS that afford an outside
warm weather living that isn't found in many neighborhoods--private and
property line measurements allowing this--none need feel activities are
infringing on anyone's privacy whenever out and about in their own yards.
'fhere is an appreciation of this living and I don't want to see any changes
due to this proposed VARIANCE. 'fHE AREA OF ARDEN HILLS NO. 3 affords present
home owners open spaces with mature trees and ramblers located far apart!!
I will add that as a senior at 76 years I have felt much anquish over this
and do feel this VARIANCE will definitely affect7the value of my property.
After all the years, this request seems out of order almost out of character,
too. The Albertsons, as my neighbors for many years have been "side by side"
friends and it is not easy to oppose; however I MUST PROTECT MY PROPERTY.IT
IS MY IMPORTANT INVESTMENT FOR MY SENIOR YEARS. MY ACE! ALBERTSONS ARE MOV-
ING AND ~nLL NOT BE LIVING NEXT TO A "SQUEEZED" IN HOME 'fO CROWD THEIR VISTA.
I am the one neighbor most affected--many questions with no answers now--for
example: WHERE WILL THE DRIVEWAY BE (keep in mind location of Ridgewood Rd in
relation to Asbury St (running north and south), the architecture of a home
today will not reflect the 50's and the stable appearance and most likely
would be 'odd' design--two story houses were NOT PERMITTED WHEN THIS AH NO.3
platted, would the design be linear measure--all this would be TERRIBLE! Of
course this is my personal comments and gives me a great deal of anquish. I'm
uncomfortable with the VARIANCE REQUEST TOTALLY----is it true 'realtors' push
for the commissions to the point of giving the prospective seller dollar
incentatives at neighbor's expense? I believe the VARIANCE REQUES'f came about
in this way. Let the home at 3103 be sold as it is with great spaces and this
house has a wonderful exposure, south, and would be easily expanded beauti-
fully keeping the architecture true and surroundings would be left, too. The
mature trees (there are many on the south near 3093) will grace the area.

HAVE ANY OF YOU FROM 'fHE CITY BEEN OUT HERE TO
A HOHE "SQUEEZED" IN? PLEASE BE REALASTIC TO
the impact on nearby neighbors--you know they

were mailed for the meeting April 7 at 6:30.

GET THE VIEW? CAN YOU PICTURE
THE EXISTING CONDITIONS and
are with the notice-cards that

PLEASE CONSIDER MY PLIGHT! MC
