Individuals in attendance reserved their comments for <br />15later in the meeting. <br />16 <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES – NOVEMBER 6, 2014 MEETING <br />173. <br />18November 6, 2014 minutes passed unanimously. <br />19 <br />ACKNOWLEDGE NOTES – DECEMBER 2, 2014 MEETING <br />204. <br />21December 2, 2014 Commission Meeting proceedings were recorded as notes due to not having a <br />22quorum at the meeting. <br />23 <br />DEER POPULATION DISCUSSION <br />245. <br />25Ten residents were in attendance for the deer population discussion. <br />26 <br />27Brokke summarized the information in the packet. <br />28The decision to control wildlife is up to the individual communities in Ramsey County. <br />29In 2014, 61 deer were counted in Roseville. <br />30The deer count took place in a .77 square mile area designated as deer habitat by Ramsey <br />31County. <br />32 <br />33Community member comments followed Brokke’s report; <br />34Comments varied between those being in favor and those not being in favor of a deer <br />35management program. <br />36First comment voiced their lack of faith in deer count and the numbers– wondered about the <br />37possibility of counting deer more than once. <br />38A number of attendees spoke to the problem of feeding deer, specifically near Chatsworth. <br />39Neighbors feeding in this area have contributed to deer/vehicular concerns. <br />40Residents near Ladyslipper Park have come close to hitting deer on the roads due to deer <br />41trying to get to neighborhood feeding stations. <br />42Many in attendance asked the Commission to suggest to the Council that an ordinance <br />o <br />43be implemented to ban wildlife feeding in Roseville. <br />44Community members commented on how the deer population has grown and the local habitat <br />45has decreased, resulting in deer eating gardens and plantings. <br />46Community members also recognized the potential health issues such as a deer tick problem <br />47due to the significant presence of deer in Roseville. <br /> <br />
