She asked if this event would be recorded or televised. <br />94 <br />95 <br />Ms. Collins stated this would need to be arranged with CTV and the City has a set amount of <br />96 <br />contracted hours. She would talk to the Communications Manager to see if there is time in the <br />97 <br />budgeted hours. <br />98 <br />99 <br />Commissioner Slade stated she would check with NAMI to verify the event could be recorded. <br />100 <br />101 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated if the event is televised then it should be clarified in the <br />102 <br />advertising. <br />103 <br />104 <br />Ms. Collins stated she would promote the event through the City’s promotional process. <br />105 <br />106 <br />Commissioner Becker stated the Community Engagement Commission would also announce the <br />107 <br />event during their meeting. <br />108 <br />109 <br />c.Essay Contest Update <br />110 <br />111 <br />Ms. Collins provided the Commission with the breakdown of the Commission’s scores for the <br />112 <br />essays and a copy of the top essays based on the average scores. There was a tie for third place. <br />113 <br />She asked the Commission how many essays the Commission would like to recognize. <br />114 <br />115 <br />Commissioner Slade asked if all participants received a certificate of participation. She would <br />116 <br />like to see everyone get mentioned for taking the time to participate. <br />117 <br />118 <br />Ms. Collins stated she was not sure if the students received anything from the participating <br />119 <br />teachers but the City does not provide a certificate of participation to everyone. She clarified she <br />120 <br />had also tried to contact the teacher that there had been some miscommunication with regarding <br />121 <br />the criteria for the essay but she has not gotten a response from them. <br />122 <br />123 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated she had talked with Mr. Bibeau and he had explained that the <br />124 <br />timing of the essay was difficult with the curriculum change and he felt there should be more <br />125 <br />collaboration regarding the essay. <br />126 <br />127 <br />Vice Chair Thao suggested giving awards to the top four essays: first, second, and the two that <br />128 <br />tied for third. <br />129 <br />130 <br />Commissioner Carey asked what the awards had been previously. <br />131 <br />132 <br />Ms. Collins stated the awards last year had been $100, $75 and $50. There had not been a <br />133 <br />budget established for the awards for this year.
