<br />public assistance, sex, sexual orientation, age or any other class <br />protected by state or federal law is prohibited in all personnel <br />policies, programs and practices. <br /> <br />The City Manager is responsible for implementing this policy. <br />Failure of any City employee to act in a manner consistent with <br />this policy may result in disciplinary action against that <br />employee. <br /> <br />251. Promotions and Separations <br /> <br />251.010. Promotions. <br />1. It is the policy of the City to fill vacancies in municipal <br />service by promotion of regular City employees when possible <br />based on the relative qualifications of all applicants. <br /> <br />2. All promotions shall be subject to a probationary period of <br />six months. <br /> <br />3. If an employee who has been promoted is found to be unsuitable <br />for the position to which he/she has been promoted within the <br />first two years after the date of promotion, he/she shall be <br />reinstated in his/her former position, or in some other <br />position of similar pay and responsibility. <br /> <br />251.020. Discharae, Demotions, and Suspension by City Manager. <br />The City Manager may dismiss, demote, or suspend any employee. At <br />the request of the employee, the reason for any dismissal, <br />demotion, or suspension shall be given to the employee in writing. <br /> <br />252. Benefits <br /> <br />252.010. Employee Benefits. <br />Employees hired in regular full-time positions are eligible to <br />receive sick leave, vacation, paid holidays and any other benefits <br />which are approved by Council Resolution. Regular part -time <br />employees who work at least twenty (20) hours per week are eligible <br />for paid holidays on a pro-rata basis and any other benefits which <br />are approved by Council Resolution. <br /> <br />252.020. Service Credit. <br />Service credit for a regular or probationary full-time employee <br />begins on the date of employment and is calculated as follows: <br /> <br />1. A regular or probationary full-time employee who works twelve <br />or more days in a calendar month will receive full service <br />credit for that month. <br /> <br />2. A regular or probationary full-time employee who works less <br />than twelve days in any calendar month will not receive <br />service credit for that month unless the time off is covered <br /> <br />4 <br />
