Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />April 15, 2015 <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated these are not scary kids, these are scared kids and they are the <br />most invisible people in need. <br />Chair Groff stated these kids need to be found within 48-hours of being homeless or someone <br />involved in human trafficking will find them. This group had been focusing on how to help <br />these youths and finding options for them. Roseville Area High School has a food shelf for <br />youth in need. <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated on Friday, April 17, the High School would be having a Day of <br />Silence. The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Network put on this event. <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked if this included smart phones because this is where the <br />bullying occurs. <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated she had attended the first Mental Health event and each hour <br />had been covering a different topic. <br />Youth Commissioner Report <br />a. Summer Youth Book Read <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg stated he and Youth Commissioner Dao had talked with Marcus <br />Lowry from the Library. They currently have June 20 and June 27, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the <br />book club sessions. Mr. Hemmerlin to be the facilitator for June 27 and Youth Commissioner <br />Dao would facilitate the first meeting. The book they would be reading is "The Latehomecomer" <br />by Kao Kalia Yang. She is local and they are trying to get her to attend the event. <br />Ms. Collins asked for the event details so she could promote the event. <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg stated the event would be for incoming 1 lth grade students and <br />it had been recommended they do the event for Roseville students only. He asked if the Youth <br />Facebook page could promote the event. <br />Ms. Collins stated this page had not been utilized and it had been recommended that the page be <br />taken down and a new one created. She would recommend having 6-month's worth of material <br />prepared in order to keep the page fresh and be sure to utilize it. <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated if Youth Commissioner Cederberg wanted food or beverages at <br />the book club sessions he would have to prepare this information and present it to the <br />Commission at the next meeting for approval. <br />Staff Report <br />a.
