Human Rights Commission Minutes
August 19, 2015
Commissioner Slade requested an invitation be sent to the schools as well.
Ms. Collins stated she would send these out.
Commissioner Christiansen stated the event would be Saturday, September 19, 9:00 am to 1:00
pm, at the Roseville Library and registration can be done on the Roseville Library website.
Commissioner Slade stated she would forward the information to the Shoreview Human Rights
Commission as well.
Ms. Collins suggested Commissioner Carey get weekly updates on the number of registrants.
She stated the Library has offered some funds for refreshments and they would be able to go
outside of Dunn Brothers for these refreshments.
Commissioner Christiansen stated the Commission had already approved up to $300 for
refreshments. She asked what time the refreshments would be available to participants.
Chair Groff suggested discussing this with the presenters because they would know when the
best time to break would be.
Commissioner Christiansen asked if the Library would set up tables and chairs or just chairs.
Commissioner Carey stated the presenters would meet with the Library to get this setup.
Commissioner Slade volunteered to be the point person for receiving and setting up the
refreshments.
Ms. Collins recommended increasing the refreshment budget to $500 because they do not know
how much the Library would be contributing at this time. She suggested requesting the Library
cover the costs for breakfast including coffee and water and the HRC cover the costs for lunch.
Commissioner Christiansen moved and Commissioner Slade seconded a motion to increase
the budget for refreshments for the Civilitv Trainin from a maximum of $300 to $500.
The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Carey asked if there had been any decisions made regarding the book and
potentially having it available for participants. They had talked about having a boolc available
and like a book club, having follow-up discussions. This had been something the Library was
interested in.
Ms. Collins stated this had been something the Library had said they would arrange for.
Commissioner Carey stated she would look into this. The Library has approved allowing the
Institute to have a table to display and sell their books.
