Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />August 19, 2015 <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />Ms. Collins stated Commissioner Christiansen had been providing photos froin the Global <br />Series. <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated this had been an event sponsored by the Parks and Recreation <br />Department. There may be an opportunity for the HRC to partner with the Parks Department for <br />future cultural events. She confirmed the date for the HRC award was October 5. <br />Ms. Collins stated this was the same evening of the joint meeting with the HRC and City <br />Council. <br />b. Discuss Items for Upcoming Joint Meeting with City Council <br />Chair Groff suggested each Commission think about what they would like the Commission to do <br />in the next year. He has received advice that there should be more than one person working on a <br />proj ect. <br />Ms. Collins suggested Chair Groff and her meet to put together an outline for the joint meeting <br />and if Commissioners have any thoughts, ideas, or goals they would like to see included they can <br />email this to her. <br />Commissioner Christiansen suggested including researching potential co-sponsoring <br />opportunities with the Parks and Recreation Department. <br />Commission Slade recommended doing something with a voting focus since it was an election <br />year. <br />Commissioner Christiansen suggested tallcing to J.B. Andersen about doing an event with the <br />HRC. <br />Commissioner Carey asked if this would be an opportunity to ask the City Council what they <br />would like to see the Commission work on as well. <br />c. By-Laws/City Ordinance <br />There was no discussion on this item. <br />Chair's Report <br />Chair Groff provided an article to the Commission regarding racism in juries. <br />Youth Commissioner Report <br />Ms. Collins stated there had been 7-8 participants per session. <br />
