REVIEWCITY COUNCIL JOINT MEETING <br />585. <br />59Commissioners shared their thoughts & reactions to the meeting. <br />60Holt is concerned about the process for Park Dedication funds. Using the funds for current <br />61capital needs will lead to the fund being depleted. <br />62Stoner added that Park Dedication funds cannot be anticipated and counted on. <br />o <br />63Becker-Finn suggested there is a lack of real understanding of how park dedication <br />o <br />64works & operates and the related statutory constraints. <br />65Holt suggested it may be smart for Commissioners to contact Council members <br />o <br />66directly and provide information from an informed group. <br />67Commissioners were encouraged by the Councils reaction to the Cedarholm Golf Course <br />68Clubhouse discussion. <br />69Commissioners believed the Council was asking them to; <br />o <br />70Compile public comment <br />71Strategize funding & design <br />72Suggest a process <br />73Explore potential partnerships <br />74 There was consensus that the direction should be to rebuild to a similar size as the <br />o <br />75current clubhouse. <br />76Doneen suggested engaging the community early in the process to create a skeletal <br />o <br />77vision. <br />78Commissioners agreed the initial process should pattern previous Parks and <br />79Recreation task forces and the master plan process. <br />80Staff will provide a draft vision for the Golf Course Clubhouse Taskforce at the <br />o <br />81January meeting. <br />82 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />836. <br />84Anfang briefed the Commission on: <br />85Adult Basketball Leagues starts play December 6. Recreation staff are still looking for <br />86scorekeepers. <br />87The Holiday Craft Fair is on Saturday & Sunday, December 5 & 6 at City Hall. The annual craft <br />88fair benefits the Harriet Alexander Nature Center. <br />89FORParks hosts the annual Holiday Gala on December 11 at the Skating Center. Local American <br />90Idol alumni Paris Bennett is performing. <br />91Brokke added: <br />92Staff are hosting a Natural Resources Community Meeting on Saturday, December 12. <br />93The next monthly Natural Resource Park Project is on Saturday, December 19 at Oasis Park. <br />94Upper Villa Park (adjacent to the B-Dale Club) has been the site of a HUGE storm water project <br />95this fall. Work at this site will improve local wetlands and Lake McCarrons and minimize erosion. <br />96Staff are finalizing many Renewal Program projects, while none are officially closed out, many <br />97are very close. <br />98 <br />99 <br />OTHER <br />1007. <br />101Commissioner Holt announced that the St. Paul Chamber recently recognized Roseville Parks & <br />102Recreation with a Leadership Award for their long standing involvement in the Nation Commission <br />103on Accreditation for Parks & Recreation Agencies.
