<br />106.04: <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />A. Age: All members, including officers, of the Volunteer Fire <br />Department shall be not less than eighteen (18) years of age. They <br />shall become members of the Fire Department after a one year <br />probationary period. <br /> <br />B. Physical and Educational Requirements: The City Council may <br />require that each candidate, before the candidate becomes a <br />probationary firefighter, satisfactorily complete a test of their <br />ability to perform the mental and physical requirements of the <br />position. Other requirements may be specified by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />C. Physical Examination: Candidates may also be required to undergo <br />and satisfactorily complete physical examinations as a condition of <br />employment in conjunction with an offer of employment. (Ord. <br />1051, 11-30-88; amd. 1995 Code) <br /> <br />106.05: <br /> <br />AGREEMENTS WITH APPLICANTS: Written <br />agreements may be entered into between the City and Fire <br />Department applicants, whereby applicants agree that if <br />they are appointed to membership on the Department that <br />they will be available during certain specified hours. If a <br />member of the Department who is party to such agreement <br />is unable to abide by the hours commitment, such inability <br />on the part of the member may be grounds for removal <br />from the Department pursuant to Section 106.03 of this <br />Chapter. (Ord. 828, 9-11-78) <br /> <br />106.06: <br /> <br />DUTIES OF CHIEFS: <br /> <br />A. Chiefs: The duties of the Fire Chief and subordinate Chiefs shall <br />be established by job descriptions prepared by the City Manager. <br />Such job descriptions may designate job titles for subordinate <br />Chiefs such as "Deputy Chief" and Assistant Chief." <br /> <br />1. Equipment: The Chief shall have control over all of the <br />fire fighting apparatus and shall be solely responsible for its care <br />and conçlition. <br /> <br />2. Reports: The Chief shall make an annual report to the City <br />Council at one of its meetings or whenever the City Council shall <br />desire, as to the condition of the equipment and needs of the Fire <br />Department. The Chief may submit additional reports and <br />recommendations at any meeting of the City Council and the Chief <br />shall report each suspension of a member of the Fire Department <br />at the first meeting of the City Council following each suspension. <br />
