Commissioner Carey stated she would need about 3 weeks to review all of the <br />essays. <br />Ms. Collins stated there was enough time to extend the process into April and have <br />the presentation at the second City Council meeting in May. <br />Chair Groff stated this process should be completed prior to the new Commissioners <br />starting in April. <br />Commissioner Carey stated she would put together an Excel spreadsheet for the <br />Commissioners to enter their scores on. <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg asked what the maximum number of points would <br />be. <br />Commissioner Carey stated the highest score would be 22. <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to have the essays read and scored 1 week <br />prior to the April Commission meeting. <br />New Business <br />a. Presentation from Advocates for Human Rights <br />Chair Groff asked the Commission what level of participation they would like to have <br />with the Advocates for Human Rights project. <br />Commissioner Slade stated she likes the approach they are taking to get the <br />community involved and she would be interested in facilitating for the second <br />community dialogue and submitting questions for these events. <br />Commissioner Carey asked how they would be able to get those residents who are <br />reluctant to attend and participate in these discussions. <br />Chair Groff stated there are no guaranteed ways to get these residents to attend. <br />Commissioner Christiansen moved, seconded by Commissioner Carey to <br />support the McCarrons Neighborhood Association and the Advocates for <br />Human Rights with the Community Conversation series they have received a <br />grant for and Commissioners to attend and provide questions if possible. <br />Commissioner Carey asked for additional details on the first dialogue date. <br />Chair Groff stated there would not be an interpreter at the first dialogue so it may <br />not be something the Commission would benefit from attending. He encouraged <br />Commissions to attend the second dialogue because there would be interpreters. <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br />b. Report of Recent Community Events/Review of Upcoming Events <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated the Volunteer Celebration on Thursday March 3. <br />This is for City volunteers and is not open to the public. <br />
