Commissioner Slade stated she had talked with 2nd Chance Coalition and they are open to bringing one or two people to the next HRC meeting for a 10-minute presentation on what their initiatives are and how the HRC could be involved. 2nd Chance Coalition is a coalition of civic leaders, businesses and organizations who are working on restoring the vote for those who are on probation and those who have served their time. New Business a. Report of Recent Community Events/Review of Upcoming Events Youth Commissioner Cederberg stated he had attended the Volunteer Dinner with Commissioner Christiansen. Commissioner Slade asked if there had been an increase in the number of volunteers since the Volunteer Coordinator started. Ms. Collins stated there had been an increase. b. Review 2016 Calendar of Events Chair Groff stated the Essay Contest Winner Council Recognition was rescheduled from April 11 to May 16. There is Ethics Training for all Commissioners on April 13. Ms. Collins stated this would include information of the Ethics Commission. One member from each Commission would form this Commission. Chair Groff stated the Naturalization Ceremony was scheduled for April 18. The next Commission meeting is April 20. Ms. Collins stated she would like to receive all of the essay rubrics by April 11 in order to determine the top essays for the Commission to rank. Chair Groff stated the Commission will need to have a planning session for the Rosefest Parade when the new Commissioners are able to participate in the discussions. Commissioner Carey asked if the March 31 prescreening of the video on rental rights and responsibilities would be open to the public. Ms. Collins stated on March 31 there would be a prescreening and it would be broadcast on a public Minnesota Channel on April 4 at 9:00 p.m. There will also be a link on the City's website. Chair's Report Chair Groff stated he had attended a planning meeting for the three dialogues the Commission is cosponsoring with Advocates for Human Rights, Lake McCarrons Neighborhood Association, and the Community Engagement Commission. The first dialogue will be in Karin to find out what they see as the issues they face. The second meeting the Commission is encouraged to attend because it would be more of a community dialogue where they can discuss the issues and what can be done.
