Commissioner Slade stated she had talked with 2nd Chance Coalition and they are <br />open to bringing one or two people to the next HRC meeting for a 10-minute <br />presentation on what their initiatives are and how the HRC could be involved. 2nd <br />Chance Coalition is a coalition of civic leaders, businesses and organizations who are <br />working on restoring the vote for those who are on probation and those who have <br />served their time. <br />New Business <br />a. Report of Recent Community Events/Review of Upcoming Events <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg stated he had attended the Volunteer Dinner with <br />Commissioner Christiansen. <br />Commissioner Slade asked if there had been an increase in the number of volunteers <br />since the Volunteer Coordinator started. <br />Ms. Collins stated there had been an increase. <br />b. Review 2016 Calendar of Events <br />Chair Groff stated the Essay Contest Winner Council Recognition was rescheduled <br />from April 11 to May 16. There is Ethics Training for all Commissioners on April 13. <br />Ms. Collins stated this would include information of the Ethics Commission. One <br />member from each Commission would form this Commission. <br />Chair Groff stated the Naturalization Ceremony was scheduled for April 18. The next <br />Commission meeting is April 20. <br />Ms. Collins stated she would like to receive all of the essay rubrics by April 11 in <br />order to determine the top essays for the Commission to rank. <br />Chair Groff stated the Commission will need to have a planning session for the <br />Rosefest Parade when the new Commissioners are able to participate in the <br />discussions. <br />Commissioner Carey asked if the March 31 prescreening of the video on rental rights <br />and responsibilities would be open to the public. <br />Ms. Collins stated on March 31 there would be a prescreening and it would be <br />broadcast on a public Minnesota Channel on April 4 at 9:00 p.m. There will also be a <br />link on the City's website. <br />Chair's Report <br />Chair Groff stated he had attended a planning meeting for the three dialogues the <br />Commission is cosponsoring with Advocates for Human Rights, Lake McCarrons <br />Neighborhood Association, and the Community Engagement Commission. The first <br />dialogue will be in Karin to find out what they see as the issues they face. The <br />second meeting the Commission is encouraged to attend because it would be more <br />of a community dialogue where they can discuss the issues and what can be done. <br />
