Essay #85
Hawever, this policy is only used in te. states and most of these states, includiiig Minnesota,
Maine, aild Wisconsin, have a higher n,mber of voters thaiz states witlout that policy. Many
people do not vote due to the fact that they are not regisiered and have to take extra measuras in
order to vote, which can be cumbersome in their busy lives. Hezce, allowing same-day voter
registration could increase voting as this change would offer convenience to vaters.
The right to vote is powerfiil nd all eligible people should co:mmit to and exercise it
because voting allows us to have a voice in ckaosing the type of govarnznent we want and in
deciding how issues are delt witl. Iovvever, many citizens do not vote because they believe that
true democracy is not implemeilted by electing government officials who have the #"znal authority
in cultivating the state or federal constitution. Making every citizen's vote become the sole
determinant of elections and allowing same-day vater registration nationwide are tr-vo possible
ways to proznote voting. After all, these two strategies would enable every single eligible voter to
execute autonomy and abtain auihoritatave power to directly affect tke outcome of elections.
