Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />April 20, 2016 – Minutes <br />Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br />Commissioner Carey moved and Commissioner Christiansen seconded a motion to <br />allocate a maximum budget of $200 for the Rosefest Parade. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />c.Movie Presentation of Forward into Light <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the Ramsey County Library had discussed showing this film in the fall but <br />there is nothing on their website at this time. <br /> <br />Commissioner Slade stated the Commission is supporting the showing but is not sponsoring <br />the event. <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated once there is a date secured the Commission would promote the event. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br />a.Karen and KOM Projects <br /> <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated he had a meeting scheduled with the Lake McCarrons Association. They <br />had held the first dialogue in Karen. There had been 50 people in attendance. The next <br />dialogue is scheduled for April 28 and is open to everyone. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated Lake McCarrons is promoting the event and it is open to the public. <br /> <br />b.RAHS Teens for Human Rights <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated Elizabeth Hansel had started a group for Teens for Human Rights at the <br />Roseville Area High School. They had identified sexual assault as their first project and they <br />are working on identifying the proper people in administration to bring sexual assault issues <br />to. They are also looking at Title IX and how that applies to the school and students. They <br />will be working on a project for May 17 for International Day Against Homophobia and <br />Transphobia. They are offering their assistance with activities and to partner with the <br />Commission for activities. The group is seeking ideas for funding resources. She stated the <br />City does have proceeds from charitable gambling available for grants. She would provide <br />the information to the Teens for Human Rights group. <br /> <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked if some of the funds raised from the Taste of Roseville <br />event could be donated to the group. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the event is done by the Rotary and the group could contact them for <br />information on requesting and receiving donations or grants. <br /> <br />Commissioner Christiansen suggested having a couple members of the Teens for Human <br />Rights group participate in the Rosefest Parade with the Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Carey suggested inviting the group to provide an update to the Commission <br />once or twice a year. <br /> <br />c.Discuss Process to Appoint Youth Commissioner <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
