<br />Commissioner Dailey stated she would serve as the Human Rights Commission representative <br />for the Ethics Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />c.Strategic Planning/ Goal Setting/ Projects or Issues to Address in 2016 <br />Chair Groff stated one of the things the Commission had been working on was mental health, <br />working with the KOM outreach and Second Chance Coalition. The Commission will continue <br />working on the HRC award and promoting the Shoreview Human Rights Commission’s film <br />viewing. Youth Commission Cederberg would continue working on the Summer Book Read <br />event. Other items the Commission is working on include participation in the Rosefest Parade <br />and the annual Essay Contest. The Commission will need to begin working on the formulation <br />on the question for the 2017 essay contest. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated she had a list of suggestions she had received years ago from teachers for the <br />essay contest. She would present this list to the subcommittee for their review and there were <br />other questions considered for the 2016 essay that could be considered. <br /> <br />Youth Commissioner Hansel stated she would work on the Essay Contest subcommittee. <br /> <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg stated he would work on the Essay Contest subcommittee. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated he would work on the Essay Contest subcommittee. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey stated she had talked to a resident about cultural appropriation around <br />Halloween time. She asked if there was something that the Commissions or City could do about <br />this within the community. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the City could submit a newsletter article or a letter to the editor to the Roseville <br />Review. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey stated she would do research on the topic and begin to put together a letter. <br /> <br />Youth Commissioner Hansel stated she would put together information regarding disabilities that <br />are not obvious and how the Commission may get involved with creating awareness. <br /> <br />Commissioner Slade stated she would research on how to reach underrepresented communities <br />within Roseville and promote involvement within the Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />Chair’s Report <br /> <br /> <br />a.Outreach into the Karen Community <br />Chair Groff stated he had been working the KOM and Advocates for Human Rights and the <br />McCarrons community dialogues. The last meeting had been a joint meeting with the KOM and <br />the McCarrons community and other residents within the City. There had been discussions on <br />what people would want to see done differently within the community. The Advocates for <br />Human Rights will put together a report on these meetings for the Commission to review. <br /> <br />
