Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />June 15, 2016 – Draft Minutes <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey stated she could send letters or make calls to area organizations to discuss <br />the award and solicit nominations. She suggested developing a flyer that could be distributed to <br />area organizations as well. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated she would get a flyer put together and she would work with Commissioner <br />Dailey on the distribution of these flyers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey requested the deadline date be changed on the City’s website. <br /> <br />Commissioner Carey asked if this could be included in the newsletter. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the July/August newsletter was at the printer and the next newsletter would not <br />go out until September. <br /> <br />Chair Groff suggested having a deadline of September 7 or later in order to include the <br />information in the September newsletter. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey suggested September 9 as the deadline so they would have a count of <br />nominations prior to the Commissions September meeting. She suggested the Nomination <br />Committee read the nominations and present three to the Commission for consideration. The <br />Commission could make their choices at the October meeting and work with the City Council to <br />present the award. <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated the Nomination Committee could forward their nominations to Ms. Curti for <br />distribution to the Commission. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Chair’s Report <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated he had attended the June 13 City Council meeting and he had read a statement <br />about the shooting in Orlando. He asked the City Council to pass a Resolution, which had been <br />passed unanimously. He pointed out that the events in Orlando had nothing to do with being <br />Muslim because this gets mixed up in the media. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti read Resolution 11331 Standing Solidarity with the City of Orlando Florida: Whereas <br />the attack of June 12, 2016, at the nightclub in Orlando, was a reprehensible act of terror against <br />the United States, the people of Orlando and all LGBT community, now there for let it be <br />resolved that the City of Roseville extends its deepest sympathy and stands in solidarity with the <br />City of Orlando, FL against all hate crimes and acts of terrorism, sending consolation and hope <br />of healing to the city and the LGBT community and their families and friends. <br /> <br /> <br />
