She <br />183 <br />clarified saying that an interview with a parent may not be the same as a published interview. <br />184 <br />185 <br />Ms. Carey suggested reviewing these guidelines for the Essay Contest next year. The rules are <br />186 <br />already distributed for this year. <br />187 <br />188 <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to use a quantitative number 0-2 to score the use of <br />189 <br />references. <br />190 <br />191 <br />Commissioner Christiansen suggested having the rubric drafted and the Commission review it <br />192 <br />once they starting grading essays. <br />193 <br />194 <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to strike the question “Was the question answered?” <br />195 <br />196 <br />197 <br />New Business <br />198 <br />199 <br />a.Report on Recent Community Events/Review of Upcoming Events <br />200 <br />201 <br />Ms. Collins stated the Commission is invited to attend the prescreening of the ECHO Video <br />202 <br />Project “Rental Rights and Responsibilities” at the Olympic Room on March 31 at 3:00 p.m. <br />203 <br />ECHO is an organization that does community preparedness videos. <br />204 <br />205 <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated Roseville is accepting applications for open Commission and <br />206 <br />Advisory Board positions. The Harriet Alexander Nature Center is hosting an open house on <br />207 <br />Sunday, February 7 in honor of the Chinese New Year. <br />208 <br />209 <br />b.Discuss 2016 Naturalization Ceremony <br />210 <br />211 <br />Ms. Collins stated the Naturalization Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, April 18 at 10:00 am <br />212 <br />and they will work out the details. <br />213 <br />214 <br />c.Discuss 2016 City Council Priority Plan <br />215 <br />216 <br />Ms. Collins stated the Human Rights Commission is listed as a responsible commission under <br />217 <br />the City goal “Create Southeast Roseville Redevelopment Plan”. The City has also been <br />218 <br />working on identifying recreation opportunities for the Karen youth in the Brittany Marianne <br />219 <br />apartments. The City has been looking at a parcel of land near these buildings to turn into park <br />220 <br />space for these youth. The Roseville Area Schools will be putting together a presentation for the <br />221 <br />City Council to see if they would purchase the parcel and they would then apply for a grant for <br />222 <br />playground equipment for this parcel. She recommended the Commission look at ways to <br />223 <br />advance the City’s goals in the Roseville City Priority Plan. <br />224 <br /> <br />
