The motion carried unanimously. <br />196 <br /> <br />197 <br />Chair Groff suggested moving to Item 6.a Presentation from Advocates for Human Rights and <br />198 <br />then returning to Item 5.c Essay Contest. <br />199 <br /> <br />200 <br />New Business <br />201 <br /> <br />202 <br /> <br />a.Presentation from Advocates for Human Rights <br /> <br />203 <br /> <br />204 <br />Ms. Sherry Sanders, Chair of Lake McCarrons Neighborhood Association and community leader <br />205 <br />in southeast Roseville, stated Lake McCarrons had received a grant to host a series of community <br />206 <br />conversations for the Linking Communities project. <br />207 <br /> <br />208 <br />Ms. Madeline Lohman, Advocates of Human Rights, stated they had worked with Mr. <br />209 <br />Grefenberg in the past and organized a community conversation about experiences <br />210 <br />in Roseville. They have been working with the Community Engagement Committee for the last <br />211 <br />year to continue these community conversations. They were able to receive a grant for the <br />212 <br />program they put together. The grant would cover costs such as translators, transportation, food, <br />213 <br />and facilities. This is a bridge building event that includes a dinner and discussions on common <br />214 <br />problems and what they could do to solve these problems. They are currently working closely <br />215 <br />with the Karin Organization because this is a newer population to the area. The first event would <br />216 <br />be offered in Karin with the second event including translators in involve more of the population <br />217 <br />and allow the Karin to interact with their English speaking neighbors. The third event would <br />218 <br />involve the school. They would accept participation and leadership from the Human Rights <br />219 <br />Commission for these events. <br />220 <br /> <br />221 <br />Ms. Sanders stated the first event would be held in Karin and she asked the Commission to assist <br />222 <br />with composing questions to ask how the City can help them.
