Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />February 24, 2016 Draft Minutes <br />Page 7of 11 <br /> <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked if the Commissioners should just send the rubric for their top <br />270 <br />10 essays. <br />271 <br /> <br />272 <br />Commissioner Carey suggested sending the scores for all of the essays to Ms. Collins and she <br />273 <br />would be able to provide the top scores for the essays. <br />274 <br /> <br />275 <br />Chair Groff stated if there were several with top scores the Commission may need to review <br />276 <br />these top essays and score them a second time in order to determine the top three essays. <br />277 <br /> <br />278 <br />Commissioner Carey asked if the deadline would be extended. <br />279 <br /> <br />280 <br />Ms. Collins suggested the essay contest winners be notified prior to the end of the school year. <br />281 <br /> <br />282 <br />Chair Groff explained from previous experience it would be best to have the winners identified <br />283 <br />within the next month. <br />284 <br /> <br />285 <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated she would like to have the next meeting date changed. She <br />286 <br />then asked if the next meeting were held later in the month if this would give Commissioners <br />287 <br />enough time to read all of the essays prior to the next meeting. <br />288 <br /> <br />289 <br />Commissioner Carey stated she would need about 3 weeks to review all of the essays. <br />290 <br /> <br />291 <br />Ms. Collins stated there was enough time to extend the process into April and have the <br />292 <br />presentation at the second City Council meeting in May. <br />293 <br /> <br />294 <br />Chair Groff stated this process should be completed prior to the new Commissioners starting in <br />295 <br />April. <br />296 <br /> <br />297 <br />Commissioner Carey stated she would put together an Excel spreadsheet for the Commissioners <br />298 <br />to enter their scores on. <br />299 <br /> <br />300 <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg asked what the maximum number of points would be. <br />301 <br /> <br />302 <br />Commissioner Carey stated the highest score would be 22. <br />303 <br /> <br />304 <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to have the essays read and scored 1 week prior to the <br />305 <br />April Commission meeting. <br />306 <br /> <br />307 <br />New Business <br />308 <br /> <br />309 <br /> <br />a.Presentation from Advocates for Human Rights <br /> <br />310 <br /> <br />311 <br />Chair Groff asked the Commission what level of participation they would like to have with the <br />312 <br />Advocates for Human Rights project. <br />313 <br /> <br />314 <br /> <br /> <br />
