Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />April 20, 2016–Draft Minutes <br />Page 4of7 <br />Chair Groff suggested the Commission use the letters that were created last year. <br />136 <br />137 <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked if one of the new Commissioners would want to be the lead on <br />138 <br />the parade planning. She also suggested asking if members from the Second Chance Coalition <br />139 <br />would want to walk with the Commission in the parade. <br />140 <br />141 <br />Chair Groff stated there would also be sixmembers of the Karen Organization walking with the <br />142 <br />Commission. <br />143 <br />144 <br />Ms. Curti stated the 2015 budget had included $200 for the parade. <br />145 <br />146 <br />Commissioner Slade stated she had a wagon that could be used to transport candy during the <br />147 <br />parade.She suggested budgeting $200 for the parade this year for the purchase of candy and <br />148 <br />other supplies as needed. <br />149 <br />150 <br />Commissioner Carey moved and Commissioner Christiansen seconded a motion to allocate <br />151 <br />a maximum budget of$200 for the Rosefest Parade. Motion passed unanimously. <br />152 <br />153 <br />c.Movie Presentation of Forward into Light <br />154 <br />155 <br />Ms. Curti stated the Ramsey County Library had discussed showing this film in the fall but there <br />156 <br />is nothing on their website at this time. <br />157 <br />158 <br />Commissioner Slade stated the Commission is supporting the showing but is not sponsoring the <br />159 <br />event. <br />160 <br />161 <br />Chair Groff stated once there is a date secured the Commission would promote the event. <br />162 <br />163 <br />NewBusiness <br />164 <br />165 <br />a.Karen and KOM Projects <br />166 <br />167 <br />Chair Groff stated he had a meeting scheduled with the Lake McCarrons Association.They had <br />168 <br />held the first dialogue in Karen. There hadbeen 50 people in attendance. The next dialogue is <br />169 <br />scheduled for April 28 and is open to everyone. <br />170 <br />171 <br />Ms. Curti stated Lake McCarrons is promoting the event and it is open to the public. <br />172 <br />173 <br />b.RAHS Teens for Human Rights <br />174 <br />175 <br />Ms. Curti stated Elizabeth Hansel had started a group for Teens for Human Rights at the <br />176 <br />Roseville Area High School. They had identified sexual assault as their first project and they are <br />177 <br />working on identifying the proper people in administration to bring sexual assault issues to. <br />178 <br />They are also looking at Title IX and how that applies to the school and students. They will be <br />179 <br />working on a project for May 17 for International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. <br />180 <br /> <br />
