Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />April 20, 2016–Draft Minutes <br />Page 5of7 <br />They are offering their assistance with activities and to partner with the Commission for <br />181 <br />activities. The group is seeking ideas for funding resources. She stated the City does have <br />182 <br />proceeds from charitable gambling available for grants. She would provide the information to the <br />183 <br />Teens for Human Rights group. <br />184 <br />185 <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked if some of the funds raised from the Taste of Roseville event <br />186 <br />could be donated to the group. <br />187 <br />188 <br />Ms. Curti stated the event is done by the Rotary and the group could contact them for <br />189 <br />information on requesting and receiving donations or grants. <br />190 <br />191 <br />Commissioner Christiansen suggested having a couple members of the Teens for Human Rights <br />192 <br />group participate in the Rosefest Parade with the Commission. <br />193 <br />194 <br />Commissioner Carey suggested inviting the group to provide an update to the Commission once <br />195 <br />or twice a year. <br />196 <br />197 <br />c.Discuss Process to Appoint Youth Commissioner <br />198 <br />199 <br />Ms. Curti stated Elizabeth Hansel had interviewed for a Youth Commissionposition with the <br />200 <br />Commission in 2015. She is still interested in the position. The Commission can decide to make <br />201 <br />a recommendation to the City Council to appoint Elizabeth or open up the position for additional <br />202 <br />applicants. <br />203 <br />204 <br />Chair Groff suggested recommending the City Council appoint Elizabeth Hansel as a Youth <br />205 <br />Commissioner for the Human Rights Commission. <br />206 <br />207 <br />Commissioner Carey moved and Commissioner Christiansen seconded a motion to <br />208 <br />recommend Elizabeth Hansel to the City Council for appointment to the Human Rights <br />209 <br />Commission as a Youth Commissioner. <br />210 <br />211 <br />Ms. Curti stated she would follow up with Elizabeth and communicate with her the Commission <br />212 <br />is seeking approval for her appointment to the Commission. <br />213 <br />214 <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />215 <br />216 <br />d.Second Chance Coalition <br />217 <br />218 <br />Chair Groff stated before the Commission could consider making the goals of the Second <br />219 <br />Chance Coalition a focus theywould need to discuss it in greater detail. <br />220 <br />221 <br />Commissioner Slade stated she felt this was an important issue related to the rights of these <br />222 <br />individuals. <br />223 <br />224 <br /> <br />
