Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />May 18, 2016 Draft Minutes <br />Page 2of 5 <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated she would talk to the Parks and Rec Department and have them find the Human <br />47 <br />Rights banner as well. <br />48 <br /> <br />49 <br /> <br />b.HRC Award <br />50 <br />Chair Groff stated to have a meaningful HRC award they would need to advertise it and promote <br />51 <br />it within other Commissions and organizations. <br />52 <br /> <br />53 <br />Ms. Curti stated the Commission could promote this in the Review. <br />54 <br /> <br />55 <br />Chair Groff suggested everyone review this for discussion at the next Commission meeting. <br />56 <br /> <br />57 <br />Ms. Curti stated last year the Commission had a member aggressively pursue nominations in the <br />58 <br />community. She would put Commissioner Dailey in touch with past Commissioners to find out <br />59 <br />what they had done. <br />60 <br /> <br />61 <br />Chair Groff suggested all members of the Commission encourage people to make nominations <br />62 <br />for this award over the next month. <br />63 <br /> <br />64 <br /> <br />c.Forward into Light <br />65 <br />Ms. Curti stated the Ramsey County Library and the Shoreview Human Rights Commission <br />66 <br />would be hosting Vote for Women: A film Festival on August 18 at the Roseville Library. There <br />67 <br />would be two short films about ratifying the Nineteenth Amendment and Ramsey County <br />68 <br />Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire would be the speaker. The Commission would continue to <br />69 <br />promote the event. <br />70 <br /> <br />71 <br />New Business <br />72 <br /> <br />73 <br /> <br />a.Election Chair and Vice Chair <br /> <br />74 <br />Commissioner Slade nominated Chair Groff for the position of Chair. <br />75 <br /> <br />76 <br />Commissioner Slade made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Dailey to nominated <br />77 <br />current Chair, Wayne Groff, for the position of Chair of the Human Rights Commission. <br />78 <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br />79 <br /> <br />80 <br />Chair Groff asked for nominations for Vice Chair. <br />81 <br /> <br />82 <br />Chair Groff made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Dailey to nominate Commissioner <br />83 <br />Slade to serve as Vice Chair of the Human Rights Commission. The motion carried <br />84 <br />unanimously. <br />85 <br /> <br />86 <br /> <br />b.Ethics Commission Representative <br />87 <br />Ms. Curti explained the City has decided to change the Ethics Commission from a standing <br />88 <br />Commission to a Commission that would meet when needed and the members would be one <br />89 <br />member from each Commission. The Ethics Commission would have one organizational meeting <br />90 <br /> <br /> <br />
