Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />October 21, 2015 <br />Page 3 of 7 <br /> <br />Rights Commission’s question. She suggested the essay packet with the question and entry <br />information be emailed to the principals in a PDF format so they can easily forward this <br />information to the appropriate teachers. Ms. Bachhuber had suggested the essay information be <br />th <br />sent to ISD 623 in order to include the 6 graders within this district. <br /> <br />Ms. Collins stated she had sent the packet to Superintendant Sicoli’s assistant, Mary Zakaras and <br />th <br />she had forwarded this information to all of the 6 grade teachers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked Ms. Collins if she would be picking up the essays from all 14 <br />schools. <br /> <br />Ms. Collins clarified that Ms. Zakaras would not be emailing the essay to parents but she would <br />send it to the principal of each school and ask them to forward it to the appropriate teachers. She <br />stated she would talk with Ms. Zakaras about potentially having all the essays in one place for <br />pick up. <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated it would be nice to have the essay sent to parents so they were aware of it and <br />encourage their child to participate. He suggested having the students turn their completed <br />essays in to their teachers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated she would follow up with Ms. Zakaras to find out when the <br />electronic essay was sent out and then follow up with the principals. <br /> <br />nd <br />Commissioner Slade suggested following up with the principals on November 2. <br /> <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br /> <br />a.Report on Recent Community Events/Review of Upcoming Events <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Collins stated she had attended the Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM) Gala on <br />October 7, 2015. The event had been sold out with 200-300 people in attendance. <br /> <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated the League of Women Voters had hosted Ramsey County <br />. <br />Attorney John Choi on October 13 He spoke about the Ramsey County Joint Domestic Abuse <br />Prosecution Enhancement Project. On October 14, at the Library, she attended the forum <br />discussing Public Safety Issues in Roseville. They had discussed the difference in their <br />recruiting practices and the body camera project. <br /> <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg stated he had applied for and received a grant through Prince of <br />Peace Lutheran Church to run a free soccer camp. He was able to get eight (8) kids from the <br />Karen community to attend. He had a friend translate for him. There were over 50 kids that <br />attended. <br /> <br /> <br />
