Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />October 19, 2016Draft Minutes <br />Page 3of6 <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to schedule the award ceremony with the City Council <br />91 <br />on November 28. <br />92 <br />93 <br />c.Review of Council Meeting <br />94 <br />Chair Groff stated the Commission had reviewed their last year activities and received direction <br />95 <br />from the City Council for the next year. <br />96 <br />97 <br />d.Review of Community Conversation <br />98 <br />Chair Groff stated the Community Conversation Imagine Roseville had been on October 4. <br />99 <br />100 <br />Commissioner Slade stated the conversation had included the Police Chief providing policy <br />101 <br />information for residents and a facilitated conversation. There were about 200 residents in <br />102 <br />attendance. There had been feedback that residents would like to continue conversations to learn <br />103 <br />more and find action steps. <br />104 <br />105 <br />Ms. Curti stated the residents had made the event successful. The video presentation will air on <br />106 <br />Channel 16 and YouTube and the final report will be distributed. There is another event <br />107 <br />108 <br />website. She stated there has been discussion about establishing a point person but there has not <br />109 <br />been anyone appointed at this time. <br />110 <br />111 <br />e.Potential Collaboration with Roseville Area High School <br />112 <br />Ms. Curti stated she had received a list of activities sponsored by the High School from Ms. <br />113 <br />Nichols and information from Ms. Ellis. She reviewed the events scheduled for the next 6- <br />114 <br />months with the Commission. These events provide an opportunity for the Commission to <br />115 <br />support and/or promote cultural events within the City. <br />116 <br />117 <br />Chair Groff stated the City Council would like the Commission to be involved with cultural <br />118 <br />events. He suggested looking into co-sponsoring and/or advertising these events. <br />119 <br />120 <br />Ms. Curti clarified these events are open to the community. <br />121 <br />122 <br />Commissioner Slade suggested sponsoring a table at the One World event in April or possibly <br />123 <br />bring a speaker or performer for the event. <br />124 <br />125 <br />Commissioner Slade suggested Youth Commissioner Hansel discuss getting involved with the <br />126 <br />High School Human Rights group. <br />127 <br />128 <br />Ms. Curti stated the Commission could assist with planning and advertising. She stated she <br />129 <br />would follow up with them to find out how they would like the Human Rights Commission to <br />130 <br />get involved. <br />131 <br />132 <br />Chair Groff stated he would like to have the Commission promote all of the events they are <br />133 <br />sponsoring. <br />134 <br />135 <br /> <br />
