Human Rights Commission Minutes
November 16, 2016 – Minutes

Commissioner Carey asked if the Commission would be providing transportation for the event.

Commissioner Slade suggested talking with the residences that offer shuttle service and partner
with them.

Commissioner Dailey stated once the date and location have been determined she could contact
these facilities. The program would be offered in the afternoon and is expected to last about an
hour and a half. She stated the honorarium would be $150. She would also recommend $50-$75
for refreshments for the event. She stated she has been talking to Sarah and Bill from
Community Health Awareness Team (CHAT) and will be meeting with them. They would like
to know how the Commission had determined an event on mental health and the elderly would
be a good use of City funds and they may be interested in cosponsoring events.

Commissioner Slade stated she would write up an information page that outlines her background
and how the Commission got started on sponsoring events that focus on mental health in the
Community.

Commissioner Daily clarified that the Commission would only be sponsoring the depression
presentation at this time and if there was a high response then the Commission could look at
sponsoring the other two presentations in the series.

Commissioner Carey stated if there is good turnout and people are receptive then people will
want to know what the next step is so she would recommend setting up a tentative date for the
next presentation in the series so that people are aware of it. This is an area that the City Council
had asked the Commission to focus on.

Commissioner Slade stated they could schedule all three of the presentations because there is a
10-week lead-time.

Commissioner Dailey stated she would talk with Kay about setting up tentative dates for
February 16 and March 16.

Commissioner Dailey moved and Commissioner Slade seconded a motion to approve $150
honorarium for the first presentation from Gray Matter on depression and up to $75 for
refreshments for the event on January 19, and to tentatively move forward with the second
and third presentations in February and March. Motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Daily stated the deadline for the Roseville City News was December 1 and this
event will be advertised in there.

Commissioner Peterson suggested putting together a list on senior living facilities and sending a
flyer to them and coordinate with their outreach and/or activities personnel.
