Commissioner Peterson <br />138 <br />suggested offering the presentation in the evening versus during the day. <br />139 <br />140 <br />Commissioner Dailey stated the last eventhad been targeted towards seniorsand most of the <br />141 <br />advertising had been done in churches and senior living facilities. <br />142 <br />143 <br />Commissioner Slade stated there is a general stigma about mental health and it is a difficult <br />144 <br />subject for people to talk about in public.She stated they could target caregivers and family <br />145 <br />support systems. <br />146 <br />147 <br />Commissioner Dailey stated there is already a group that does a great jobwith dementia and <br />148 <br />caregivers. She felt there were other needs in the community the HRC could be looking at. <br />149 <br />150 <br />Commissioner Peterson suggesting finding a film series that they could partner with the Library. <br />151 <br />152 <br />Commissioner Dailey stated NAMI also offers a presentation on how to find resources within the <br />153 <br />community. <br />154 <br />155 <br />Ms. Curti suggested taking the presentation to thetarget audience such as hosting the Grey <br />156 <br />Matters forum in a senior living facility. <br />157 <br />158 <br />Chair Groff stated he would not want to put the Commission’s work on hold and wait for the <br />159 <br />HRC and CEC to be combined before moving forward with programs. The HRC’s goals and <br />160 <br />objectives were approved by the City Council in 2016. <br />161 <br />162 <br />Commissioner Carey suggested hosting a presentation in the High School or Middle Schools. <br />163 <br />164 <br />Chair Groff asked if hosting an event in the school would be in the HRC’s area of operations. <br />165 <br />This would be crossing into the school’s area. <br />166 <br />167 <br />Ms. Curtiasked whetherthe Commission should be focusing on the stigma surrounding people <br />168 <br />with mental illness. <br />169 <br />170 <br />Commissioner Dailey stated they should start a discussion with the school and find out what <br />171 <br />would beallowed and what programs they are currently offering. <br />172 <br />173 <br />Chair Groff stated he would get in touch with Karen Schaub and if there is an opportunity for the <br />174 <br />Commission to partner with the Human Rights Clubat the high school.
