Ms. Curti stated in the past the Commission has asked the essay contest winners to <br />participate in the Rose Parade. <br /> <br />c.Roseville Area High School – One World Under the Same Sky <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated Commissioners are asked to come and help setup as early as 1:00 <br />p.m. if they are able. She stated she has been putting together information for the <br />Commission to have at their table for the event. <br /> <br />d.Update on Community Dialogues – Imagine Roseville <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the next meeting will be a two-part meeting on May 3 and May 4 to <br />discuss immigration issues and to consider ideas that the City could take in response <br />to immigration policies and the impact policies may have on the human rights of <br />Roseville’s residents and visitors. <br /> <br />Commissioner Djevi asked how these events would be communicated to the different <br />areas of the community. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated they are notifying residents through the same channels that they <br />use for everything but there has been the question on how to reach other pockets of <br />the community. <br /> <br />Commission Djevi stated he would suggest identifying one person from each of these <br />pockets or areas and designate them as the “go to person” and provide the <br />information to them for distribution within their areas. He stated he would provide <br />this information to his contacts. <br /> <br />e.Update on Naturalization Ceremony <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the Naturalization Ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday, May 24. <br />The Commission spent $100 in 2016 for refreshments. She asked the Commission <br />to allocate the same amount for 2017. <br /> <br />Commissioner Peterson moved and Commissioner Djevi seconded a motion to <br />approve allocating up to $100 for refreshments for the Naturalization Ceremony on <br />May 24. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />f.Update on Subcommittee to combine Human Rights Commission and <br /> <br />Community Engagement Commission <br /> <br />Commissioner Peterson stated the subcommittee focused on the job duties, <br />functions, and objectives for the new Commission. There was also discussion on the <br />name for the new Commission. She provided a draft of the City Code the <br />subcommittee worked on. <br /> <br />Commissioner Daily stated the objectives would be to advise, evaluate and engage. <br />The Commission would continue to advise the City Council and engage the <br />community through community dialogues and other events. Evaluating would <br />include looking at actions by the City and City Council to ensure there is equity in the <br />community. <br /> <br /> <br />
