Commissioner Dailey stated there is already a group that does a great job with <br />dementia and caregivers. She felt there were other needs in the community the HRC <br />could be looking at. <br /> <br />Commissioner Peterson suggesting finding a film series that they could partner with <br />the Library. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey stated NAMI also offers a presentation on how to find resources <br />within the community. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti suggested taking the presentation to the target audience such as hosting <br />the Grey Matters forum in a senior living facility. <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated he would not want to put the Commission’s work on hold and wait <br />for the HRC and CEC to be combined before moving forward with programs. The <br />HRC’s goals and objectives were approved by the City Council in 2016. <br /> <br />Commissioner Carey suggested hosting a presentation in the High School or Middle <br />Schools. <br /> <br />Chair Groff asked if hosting an event in the school would be in the HRC’s area of <br />operations. This would be crossing into the school’s area. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti asked whether the Commission should be focusing on the stigma <br />surrounding people with mental illness. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dailey stated they should start a discussion with the school and find <br />out what would be allowed and what programs they are currently offering. <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated he would get in touch with Karen Schaub and if there is an <br />opportunity for the Commission to partner with the Human Rights Club at the high <br />school. The Commission can discuss this at their April meeting. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br />a.Nomination for Commission Chair and Vice Chair for vote at April <br /> <br />meeting <br /> <br />Chair Groff asked if they were still going to move forward with electing a Chair and <br />Vice Chair knowing that the HRC and CEC were being combined in the near future. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the City Code does specify that the Chair and Vice Chair be elected <br />in April. <br /> <br />Commissioner Slade made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Carey to nominated <br />Chair Groff to serve as the Chair of the Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />Chair Groff accepted the nomination. He stated he would be completing his term <br />next year and due to term limits, he would not be able to continue serving on the <br />HRC. <br /> <br /> <br />
